TL;DR
- Reach me on Slack, Teams or email. Call only if it’s truly urgent.
- Book meetings in a free slot in my calendar, ideally in the morning and back-to-back.
- Bring me problems early. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
- Give me feedback right away, directly and in private.
- If I owe you something, nudge me. I have ADHD, and reminders genuinely help.
How I communicate
Best ways to reach me
Slack, Teams or email. I check them several times a day, which covers most urgent things. For bigger topics I prefer talking in person over a video call.
If something needs my immediate attention, say so explicitly. A quick call is fine, but please keep it rare, because interruptions break my focus. An unanswered message doesn’t mean I’m ignoring it. If you need a reply, tell me.
What helps when you bring me something
- What are we trying to achieve?
- Why does it matter?
- What have you tried or considered?
- What do you need from me?
Feedback
Please don’t wait for our next 1:1. I’d rather hear it while it’s fresh. Be specific about the behavior and its impact. Praise in public, critique in private.
I give a lot of feedback myself, because I believe it’s how we all get better. Tell me how you like to receive it, and I’ll adjust.
How I lead
Trust and autonomy
I care more about outcomes than about how you get there. You don’t need my permission for every decision. If you see a better way, or disagree with me, tell me.
My job is to give direction and context, and to remove obstacles, not to be in every detail.
Decisions
I don’t need perfect information to decide. I prefer a reasonable decision now, then learning and adjusting. For big decisions I want clear context, different views, the trade-offs and a clear owner. Once we decide, we commit. If new information comes up, we revisit.
What I expect from you
- Take ownership and follow through.
- Be open about progress, risks and things that aren’t going well.
- Bring problems early, ideally with some ideas.
- Speak up when you disagree.
How we work together
Meetings
I’m happy to keep meetings informal, but tell me upfront what you need from me and what outcome we want. End with clear decisions, owners and next steps. If it can be async, I’m happy with that too. During meetings I’ll either speak up or drop my thoughts in the chat.
My calendar is open: pick a free slot that isn’t blocked for focus time. My energy drops in the afternoon, so earlier is better, and I prefer meetings bundled together.
Focus and working hours
I work from the office and from home, and I don’t keep a strict 9–5. Sometimes I take time out during the day and work later in the evening.
For deep work I go home or put on noise-cancelling headphones. Loud, crowded places distract me easily.
Organization and ADHD
I have ADHD. Time blindness, prioritization and planning my week don’t come naturally to me, and my information sometimes ends up scattered across different places. I use systems to help, but I’m not perfect.
- If I owe you something, follow up. Reminders genuinely help.
- Give me deadlines as dates, not “soon”.
- Tell me the priority when you hand me something.
- If my way of organizing gets in your way, tell me and we’ll find a better way together.
I also need quiet time to think and read without interruptions.
What I’m working on
Leadership is a skill I keep practicing. Right now I’m working on these:
- Coaching instead of solving. My instinct is to jump in with answers. I’m learning to ask more and listen longer. If I start solving something you wanted to think through yourself, tell me.
- Delegating and creating space. I enjoy being in the details, and I sometimes take on too much. If I’m too involved in something you own, let me know.
- Focus and priorities. I love exploring ideas, sometimes more than I should. If you see me spreading myself too thin, help me refocus.
What motivates me
A good atmosphere and a team working towards a shared goal that helps a lot of people. I also love seeing people grow.
My top 5 strengths: honesty, humor, love of learning, hope, kindness.
Outside of work
Most mornings start at the gym around 6:30, which clears my head before work. I’m also a big coffee fan, and there’s probably a cup ☕ brewing as you read this.
